Who are we?

2canDo Arts was originally set up in 2009 by Theresia Guschlbauer and Lyn Mather to promote active citizenship and community engagement through the arts. Theresia has a background in dance theatre, textile and multi disciplinary and participative Arts, while Lyn has a planning background, is a working Arts therapist & lecturer and works mostly with ecology. We are passionate about the public realm and its use for social and cultural interaction, finding new ways to engage with each other in a variety of ways. Today we continue that work, focussing on site-specific projects in public spaces, streets, parks and disused buildings consolidating artistic relationships and always welcoming new partners and collaborators across the country.

LYN’s WORK

Theresia holds a higher Cert in Fine Art Textile from CCAD and has used her textile in a number of ways to link her community and participative work with her personal practice. She originally trained as a dancer and singer, worked as costume designer and set up Galloglass Theatre company in the 90's working as director for over ten years. Over ten years, she devised and coordinated numerous visual and performance arts projects for the Junction Festival in her capacity as Participation Director (2004-2013) involving many communities of all ages and backgrounds in artmaking and storytelling. Since 2013, she works both as an artist and arts producer and project manager, using her considerable experience and creativity to dialogue with the world around her in vibrant and artistic ways.
