Nightlights @ Designfest 2016

An Arts & Design trail through the streets of Clonmel

The nighttime trail started at the Main Guard, taking in the Switch Project and shops and landmark locations on Mitchell, Parnell and Anglesea street, showing projected images featuring the best in Digital Arts and Design, including Deirdre Feeney’s magical glass house, Donal Ni. Along the way, families and friends could stop at Professor's Lonsdale's lab to find out more about science, art and technology in this unusual entertaining and educational experience that people of all ages can enjoy! The trail finished at Channon's Forge with the Howling Wolf Session, a multimedia sound, video and light installation by Maurice Caplice and Paul Kelly, which included an open fire and warm apple Juice being served.

The Switch Project ran throughout the festival and featured Design-focussed short videos in four empty shops on Mitchell and Parnell street. From empty shop windows to art installations, the Switch Project aims to promote and show contemporary video art in a public context, providing an alternative way to navigate a familiar place and create possibilities for a ‘happened upon’ encounter.
